The problem in this whole complex is, that black is playing for development before seeking direct contact in the center. This approach is very flexible and more or less avoids forced lines, except for those shown above. Such gambits pretty much define modern chess in the computer age: You can invest a pawn if the engines show that you’ll get it back eventually or draw by force.
